Queenslands roe-off scallop meat is renowned for
its flavour and delicate texture making it highly
sought after in local and Honk Kong Markets. The
species is caught in a range of sizes and is more
highly regarded than its inferior West Australian
Mud scallop cousin. This species is caught in the
summer months by trawlers with modified prawn nets.
The species is sold whole to processors to remove
the meat from the shell and is usually sold as a
roe off 2 kg frozen block.
